# Debt Collection Regulation in Canada

Debt collection in Canada is regulated provincially. Each province licenses collection agencies separately, for example Ontario under the Collection and Debt Settlement Services Act and British Columbia under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act. There is no single federal collection agency license.
