# Debt Collection Regulation in New Zealand

New Zealand has no dedicated debt collector licensing regime. Collection conduct is governed by the Fair Trading Act, enforced by the Commerce Commission, and the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act where consumer credit is involved. Agencies operate as registered companies with the Companies Office.
